Tiny Leaders: Elven Renegade.

Now, Tiny Leaders is probably the most recent, and one of the most popular formats out there right now and I have not yet built my own deck for the format. I wasn’t interested in the idea originally but now I am considering giving the format a shot as one deck or should I say, one elven warrior has tempted me to the brink of breaking and constructing a list. Now, I am sure I am not the first to give this deck a shot but it is not one I have seen anyone play personally and elves are no laughing matter with lists even sometimes dominating the eternal formats such as Modern.

Now I am sure some people have a hard time actually deciding on which creature gets the privilege of commanding at the helm and becoming the center piece of their decks. I however, had an extremely simple option, Ezuri, Renegade Leader. There was really no other option for the list I had in mind except for Eladamri, Lord of Leaves who again, is extremely powerful in a tribal list but I like the idea of pumping my team into oblivion thanks to the ton of mana I can generate with little to no effort and Ezuri’s ability.

No other list has got me more excited to try this format and I have always wanted to play elves but not in a competitive environment as I don’t really like decks that have a chance of almost doing nothing at all and just sitting there waiting to be killed. However, in this format, I see elves being a strategy that will be reliable and extremely resilient.

Other contributing factors that have led to my decision are the mana generating cards we can abuse in this list. Cards like Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary and Staff of Domination are just two of the cards that I want to abuse the most. Being able to get yourself an infinite amount of mana and then pouring all of it into Helix Pinnacle to surprise your opponents for the win does sound rather fun.

Another reason for me is the land base with it being able to take advantage of cards like Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and for anyone who really wants to push this deck over the edge, Gaea’s Cradle.

I have not yet constructed this list in person as I am a bit of cautious on splashing out on a deck I may not like after a couple of weeks and especially as I don’t want to be that guy who tries to make the format more competitive than it needs to be, as at my local it is a very casual format. For now, I will probably proxy up what I do not have lying around and see how it performs before making my decision.

If you have any interesting ideas or have built yourself a Tiny Leaders deck and would like to discuss why you chose your commander and what makes you enjoy playing the list, then please comment below.
